• Background: Mouse transient receptor potential cation channel V3 (TRPV3) belongs to the family of transient receptor potential ion channels. The members of the family have similar tetramer structure and have shown polymodal activation. TRPV3 is a warmth sensor. It is activated at temperatures between 22 and 40 oC. TRPV3 is thought to be able to form hybrid channel with TRPV1 through hetero-assemble of the monomers. In human, the genes for TRPV3 and TRPV1 are located on chromosome 17.
